About this quiz
Every person has at least two versions of themselves: the one who exists when nobody is watching, and the one who walks into a room full of people. In a good life the two are close. In a busy, social, always-photographed life the distance between them can quietly grow.
In each scene you will choose between what you would do on your own and what you would do in front of others. Your answers reveal how you manage the image people have of you, how much of the real you your friends see, and where the gap between private wishes and public expectations is widest.
There are four profiles: The Performer, The Chameleon, The Open Book and The Vault. None of them is better than the others. Each has its own gifts and its own price.
What this quiz measures
Almost everyone behaves a little differently at work, with friends and alone. This quiz looks at the gap between the person you present and the person you are in private, and sorts you into four styles: the performer, the chameleon, the open book and the vault.
How to read your result
A large gap is not dishonesty, and no gap is not always healthy. Performers enjoy an audience, chameleons adapt to the room, open books share almost everything, and vaults keep their inner life to a very small circle. Each style has strengths and a cost.
The 4 possible results
- The Performer: You always know how you will be seen. You have a polished public self and you keep it in good shape. Your image is not fake, but it is carefully edited, and you are very good at editing.
- The Chameleon: You become what the room needs. You adapt to whoever is in front of you, so smoothly that people rarely notice. Your gift is connection. Your risk is losing track of which version is the original.
- The Open Book: What they see is what they get. Your public and private selves are close to identical. You say what you mean, you look how you feel and you would be a terrible spy.
- The Vault: Few get in, and those who do stay. You share carefully and selectively. The public version of you is accurate but small, and the real depth is saved for the very few who have earned it.
Tips for using your result
If your result surprised you, think about which version of yourself you are most tired of maintaining. That is usually where a small change brings the biggest relief.
